I used to buy the expensive hot chocolate mixes from stores. It scared the hell out of me after I looked at the ingredients one day. Have you seen the ingredients list of hot chocolate mix? It contains sugar, artificial sweeteners and a bunch of other unhealthy ingredients. So that’s when I decided to make my own healthy hot chocolate mix that I can enjoy without any guilt.
Friends, it is so incredibly easy to make Homemade Hot Chocolate. Put down that store bought chocolate mix! Throw a handful of real healthy ingredients and you will have Homemade Hot Chocolate in minutes! It’s simple, delicious, and so much more satisfying than the store-bought stuff.
You can make it ahead, you can enjoy it with your family or you can gift it to your friends. They would love it too.
I am going to use cacao powder. This is the raw form of cocoa. This raw cacao is rich in magnesium, which is really good for you if you have mood swings or sugar cravings. This will reduce your sugar cravings. It’s rich in antioxidants and nutrients.
I will be using Srilankan Rolled Cinnamon for this recipe. This is the safest cinnamon to consume. It increases your metabolism and helps you burn more fat. So it’s a win-win. You can stay in track with your weight loss goal too.
Then I am using Nutmeg as well. This is a wonderful spice to reduce your stress and anxiety. If you have insomnia, then nutmeg is a great natural remedy for you.
Homemade Hot Chocolate Dry Mix

Lightly crush the cinnamon and nutmeg in a mortar and pestle before before powdering it in a blender.
Mix this spice powder with the cacao powder. You can store this dry mix in a container.
There are 2 ways you can make creamy hot chocolate with this.
Traditional Hot Cocoa
You can make a traditional hot cocoa without milk. This tastes divine in cold evenings or to refresh yourself on weekend mornings!

Method
Add water to a pan and boil it. Once it comes to a boil switch off the flame. You don’t want to boil the hot chocolate mix.
Mix 1 the dry hot chocolate mix to this hot water and add vanilla extract. You should not be using the vanilla essence, which is not real, its just chemical. You need to use vanilla extract or vanilla powder.
Mix this through until it is creamy.
You can add raw honey to sweeten your delicious hot chocolate.
Creamy Hot Chocolate
I love this super delicious and creamy hot chocolate before bed time. It’s really soothing and helps you unwind from the day’s stress.

Heat milk and bring it to a boil.
Mix the dry hot chocolate. Whip it up with an egg whisk, this process will make it creamy.
You can easily make this a DAIRY-FREE or VEGAN drink by substituting it with almond milk, which tastes equally well.
